RAKUB to disburse Tk 12b loans
Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) has set a target to disburse agricultural loan worth Tk 12 billion (Tk 1,200 crore under an incentive package loan programme in the country’s northwest zone, reports BSS. The loans will be disbursed among the targeted populations through the bank’s 383 branches in all 16 districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions within June, 2021. Meanwhile, the bank authority has disbursed loan worth Tk 4.1 million (Tk 41.06 lakh) under the special incentive package loan program among ten enlisted farmers at its LPO branch premises in Rajshahi city on Sunday through maintaining social distancing and other protective measures amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
RSS Thread & Accessories to invest $6.0m at IEPZ
To sustain the economic drive, M/s RSS Thread and Accessories Limited is going to establish a garment accessories industry with an investment of US $6.0 million at Ishwardi Export Processing Zone (EPZ), reports BSS. This cent percent Bangladeshi owned company will produce annually 100.2 million pieces of RFID and Adhesive Label, Paper Tag or Card, Corrugated Carton, 33 million yards of Narrow Fabric and 15.5 square metres of corrugated board. RSS Thread and Accessories will create employment opportunities for 485 Bangladeshi nationals.
HSBC campaign to offer support to 0.1m Covid-hit people
The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) in Bangladesh on Tuesday launched a corporate sustainability campaign to offer support to at least 100,000 people and beyond across the country whose lives have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Throughout the year, HSBC will continue such community initiatives under a broader platform of ‘Joy of Giving’. HSBC also wants to encourage other corporates and donors to contribute to the wider community by partnering with HSBC using ‘Joy of Giving’ platform.
FICCI provides PPEs to DGHS
The Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) provided 11,000 units of high-quality Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suits to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), to help the nation in its fight against Covid-19, said a statement. Among these, 1,000 PPE units are specialised medical grade and rest 10,000 units are for frontline fighters at the hospitals, doctors, nurses, and relevant hospital staff who are extending medical services to coronavirus patients.
