Dhaka Bank awards winners of ICC World Cup campaign
Dhaka Bank Ltd, in collaboration with Mastercard, awarded the winners of a campaign styled “Dhaka Bank Spend & Win Big – ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023”. Emranul Huq, managing director and CEO of the bank, handed over the awards to the winners at the bank’s corporate head office in Dhaka yesterday, said a press release. The five-day card usage campaign for the period of October 12 to October 16 of 2023 offered as reward match tickets for Bangladesh’s World Cup campaign. As part of this exciting campaign, six Dhaka Bank Mastercard holders seized the opportunity to witness Bangladesh play against South Africa live at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in Mumbai on October 24. The campaign aimed to bolster domestic and international retail transactions by providing cardholders with the opportunity to win exciting prizes such as match tickets. Md Mostaque Ahmed, deputy managing director and chief emerging market officer of the bank, Akhlaqur Rahman, deputy managing director, and HM Mostafizur Rahman, executive vice-president and head of retail business, alongside representatives from Mastercard Bangladesh and Grameenphone were present.

Nagad, Kori get nod to open digital banks
Bangladesh Bank yesterday handed over letters of intent (LoIs) to Nagad Ltd and Kori, paving the way for them to launch full-fledged digital banks for the first time in the country. Abdur Rouf Talukdar, governor of the central bank, presented the LoI to Tanvir A Mishuk, founder and managing director of Nagad Ltd, and Habibullah N Karim, chairman of Kori Digital Bank. On Sunday, the BB decided to give the permission to set up Nagad Digital Bank PLC and Kori Digital Bank PLC.

Ariful new chairman of IPDC Finance Limited
IPDC Finance Limited has appointed Ariful Islam as the Chairman of its Board of Directors. The decision was made at the 213th meeting of the Board of Directors recently. Mr. Islam is a seasoned professional with over 26 years of experience as a business leader and top executive across various organisations. He has been an integral part of IPDC Finance Limited, serving as a member of the Board Audit Committee and a director nominated by the Ayesha Abed Foundation. Mr. Islam currently holds the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at BRAC University since December 2020. Prior to joining BRAC University, Mr. Islam has held various Director/Senior executive roles with British American Tobacco (BAT) Group across various markets in the Asia-Pacific.
