NCC Islamic Banking launched
NCC Bank has launched a Shariah-based Islamic banking service, “NCC Islamic Banking”. Md Abul Bashar, chairman, and Sohela Hossain, vice-chairman, inaugurated the service alongside an associated branch in Gulshan 2 of Dhaka yesterday, said a press release. “This Shari’ah-based Islamic banking will help to develop the overall economy of the country as well as the banking sector,” said Bashar. Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, managing director, Md Nurun Newaz, chairman of the risk management committee, SM Abu Mohsin, chairman of the executive committee, Khairul Alam Chaklader and Mohammed Sazzad Un Newaz, directors, and Md Anwar Hosain Molla, members of the Shariah supervisory committee, were present.

Dr Md Abdullah Al Mamun made Janata Bank DMD
Dr Md Abdullah Al Mamun has recently joined Janata Bank Limited as Deputy Managing Director. Earlier he served as General Manager in Industrial Credit Division of Agrani Bank Limited, said a press release. At different stages of his career, he held important responsibilities in International Department, Treasury Department, SMAE, RCD, SFD, E&ED, PCSD, CPCRMD, Credit Committee, Amin Court Corporate Branch, Gulshan Corporate Branch, Banani Corporate Branch and Mohakhali Corporate Branch.

Offer incentive, tax benefit package for expats, speakers urge govt at FBCCI’s meeting
Speakers at a programme on Saturday urged the government to announce a proper incentive and tax benefit package for skilled expatriate Bangladeshis so that they can return to the country with investments. They also underscored the need for strengthened people to people connection and improved cultural ties to explore trade opportunities with different countries. They made the call at a meeting between a visiting delegation of All Wales Trade, Investment and Education Mission and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) at the FBCCI office in the city’s Motijheel. Presided over by FBCCI president Md Jashim Uddin, the programme was addressed by Chambers Wales’ executive chair and business delegation leader Paul Slevin, mission member Darren Hughes, FBCCI senior vice-president Mostafa Azad Chowdhury and vice-president Habib Ullah Dawn. In the opening remark, Mr Jashim Uddin said the demand for apparel products made of man-made fibres has been increasing globally where Bangladesh’s RMG (readymade garment) industry has a good prospect.
